Welcome to PrepEngine ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, services, and applications (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Accounts
1.1. Account Creation: You must create an account to access most features of the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process.
1.2. Account Responsibility: You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
1.3. Email Verification: Account creation requires a valid and verified email address. Failure to verify your email will restrict access to the Service.
2. User Content
2.1. Your Content: You retain all ownership rights to the documents, text, and other materials you upload or submit to the Service ("User Content").
2.2. License to Us: By providing User Content to the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and process this content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Service. This includes using the content to train and enhance our AI models in a way that does not personally identify you.
2.3. Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of posting or publishing it. You affirm that you have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to publish the User Content you submit.
3. Use of the Service
3.1. Credits: The Service operates on a credit-based system. Actions such as generating summaries, mind maps, and other AI-powered features will deduct credits from your account. Credit costs for each action are displayed within the application.
3.2. Free Plan: New users receive a one-time grant of 50 free credits. The Free Plan includes limitations on the number of study sessions and documents you can create for free. Additional creations may require payment in credits.
3.3. Subscriptions and Payments: We offer paid subscription plans ("PrepEngine Plus," "PrepEngine Premium") that provide a monthly allowance of credits and additional features. Payments are processed through PayPal.
3.4. Billing: Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly basis. By purchasing a subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your PayPal account or via our pricing page.
3.5. Refunds: All purchases of credits and subscriptions are final and non-refundable.
3.6. Prohibited Use: You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to violate any laws in your jurisdiction. You may not upload content that is hateful, defamatory, or infringing on intellectual property rights.
4. AI-Generated Content
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries, mind maps, questions, and other materials ("AI Content"). While we strive for accuracy, AI Content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You should not rely solely on AI Content as a substitute for your own study and critical thinking. We are not liable for any inaccuracies in the AI Content.
5. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the operation or availability of the Service. In no event shall PrepEngine, its directors, employees, or partners be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
